Another school year has come and gone - hard to believe! It was a privilege to be a part of all of my students' learning. It truly is wonderful to witness their growth on so many levels and one thing is certain, this job is NEVER boring! The laughter, the wonder, and even the "blood, sweat and tears" are all worth it. I've got the best job in the world! Thank-you to everyone for all of your support and all you have done at home to help your child succeed at school. You will always be your child's best teacher! Next year will bring about some changes in our Kindergarten program here at McWilliam. Due to a drop in enrollment the school's staff has decreased, causing a lot of split grade classes. As a result, an SK/Grade One has been created for the fall and I will be teaching it. I will keep all of my JK students from this year and the program will remain completely play based with an inquiry focus. I had the opportunity to visit an SK1 classroom and conference with the teacher there and was happy to see that I'm already very much "on board" with how my program runs now, so I am excited to move forward. Having said all that, I have to say that I am very sorry to be losing Mrs. Nilo, who will be moving over to one of the JK/SK classes. Even though I will still see her every single day, she will not be my teaching partner. This amazing woman has been such an asset and her creativity, commitment, strong work ethic and huge heart will be greatly missed in my classroom. Just look at these beautiful pictures of her interacting with these little guys! They love her, as do all of the kids, and I'm sure they'll all be spending lots of time visiting her in her new classroom next year. Thanks Mrs. Nilo, for your professionalism and friendship!
