So sorry it has been a while since my last blog post. We've been busy here in Kindergarten, working to establish routines and get everyone settled in. Our class is large and busy! Special events - like the Toonies for Terry day pictured above -have gone off without a hitch. Thanks to everyone who sent in donations, we had almost 100% participation in our class and many sent in even more than a toonie. I've posted more pictures on the site's photo gallery.

Well! I don't think today could have gone any better! What an experience the first day of school is for a child. A strange new place, so many kids, adults who are telling them they HAVE to do this and they CAN'T do that, and to top it all off some of these little ones don't speak English. I'm so proud of all of them and I assure you, Mom and Dad, that your child is going to shine.
Now all you have to do is get them back here tomorrow morning! Sometimes the second day is even harder, when they realize they have to come back AGAIN, and then every day after that! We won't tell them they're here for quite a few years - at least not yet! Thanks for the great support and cooperation Did you have a relaxing summer? I sure hope so! It's almost time to go back to school. Our classes begin on the 8th. Next week, the Kindergarten staff will be meeting all of the new JK students and families. We also have a day of meetings to get up to speed with some of the new initiatives the board is launching this year.
I can't wait to see all of my little ones! Please make it easier on your child by establishing and sticking to a set schedule NOW - that means an early bedtime, getting up at the time they will have to for school, and regular mealtimes. Believe me, it will really help when classes start. Also, remember that a certain degree of age appropriate independence is expected at school. This includes using the bathroom, washing hands, putting on shoes and coats and eating. Take this last week to get into these routines as well. You can find more information about school on the site under the FAQ tab. I remember sending my own two daughters off to Kindergarten! The eldest one was not too sure and had a rough time separating from me. The younger one didn't even give me a second glance! I don't know which is harder to take as a mom, but I do know it's a really important milestone. Don't worry, I'll take good care of your precious treasure. Here are my daughters Christina and Diana, all grown up. It happens in the blink of an eye! |
