Congratulations to Camden, who won the contest for best poster in the primary division (JK through Grade 3)! All of the posters are great, as you can see: Doubles, doubles, I can add doubles
It's no trouble for me to add doubles! Check out this fun rap on Youtube, we love it. More doubling activities are happening, as well as data collection, graphing, and further exploration of patterns on the hundred chart. Things we're discovering include: doubles are always even numbers; the even and odd numbers make an ABAB pattern on the hundred chart; all numbers that end with 2,4,6,8, and 0 are even; by knowing how the hundred chart works we can quickly figure out one more, one less, ten more and ten less! Using our rekenreks (small abacuses) we can also see that there are different combinations that add up to the same number, like 2+6, 4+4, 5+3 all add up to 8. Look at these beautiful pumpkins! We've had so many people pop into our room to tell us how much they like our artwork! |
