It's the end of the school year and there are many people to thank. It's always a tricky business because no matter how hard you try to mention everyone, someone inevitably gets overlooked - but I'll do my best. The first thanks goes to my incredible teaching partner Mrs. Marivic Nilo. Not only is she a dedicated and talented educator, cheerful, super smart and nice but she's also been a supportive and caring friend to me. For the third year in a row I endured the final illness and death of a close family member, having lost two sisters and a mother, and Marivic has been there every step of the way for me. I just love her! Which brings me to the rest of the Early Years staff who have also supported me in every way. Believe me, your children are very fortunate to be taught by this incredible team of teachers and Early Childhood Educators!
Thanks to our classroom volunteers Mr. Charaffedine, "Miss Jackie" and "Mrs. K." Honestly, I don't know what we'd do without them! We also appreciate every parent who came along on a field trip, helped with a potluck lunch, donated food for our food drive, sent in contributions for charities, raised money for school fundraisers, purchased books through Scholastic, made playdough for the classroom, donated toys or materials to the program. . . There are so many ways to help and we thank everyone who did so! Thank-you to all of our families for trusting us with your most precious possession! The children have all come a long way and learned so much, it really is very gratifying to be a teacher and have the privilege of watching it all happen! Thanks also to everyone who sent teacher gifts for the end of the school year, this is generous and greatly appreciated. Please enjoy a relaxing summer. Stay safe! We wish our SK's all the best as they head off to Grade One in the fall and look forward to welcoming our NEW SK's back. They'll be the "big kids" and will have to help us out with all of our new little JK's!

Our final potluck of the year went off without a hitch. Thank-you everyone for sending in the food, there was plenty for all! A special thank-you to the mothers of Helen, Iris and Julia, who prepared the food, helped serve it AND cleaned up all of the mess. Fizza's mom sent in the two cute cakes pictured below. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday for our Year End Celebration. We expect to have the program started by 1:45p.m. in our gym. Just a reminder that treats are welcomed! See you then! Last year we tried, unsuccessfully, to raise butterflies from caterpillars. This year, we have at least ONE survivor! Here he is! The kids were thrilled! We set him free outside and hopefully he's got the skills to make it in the big wide world. Meadow has a fish tank at home and told us that the 'Mama Snail" had a HUNDRED babies! She spent a lot of time today at the playdough table recreating the snail family at home. I've noticed that kids are really fascinated by snails. They will pay very little attention to fish, but throw a snail into the mix and they're so excited! |
