What a great performance at our Winter Concert! Sorry the picture's a little blurry - if anyone can send me a better one I'd appreciate it. (Click "Contact the webmaster" on the site's home page to email me!)
On behalf of Mrs. Nilo and myself, I'd like to wish one and all a fun vacation. Please be safe and return to us on January 6, 2014! Although I know that not all of our families celebrate Christmas, I'd still like to say "Merry Christmas" to everyone - please accept it in the spirit of peace and love in which I extend it! We always do our best to include everyone's beliefs, customs and celebrations and are happy to learn all that we can about them. That is how we foster inclusion, acceptance, respect and love for each other. My family celebrates a special holiday called "Slava" on December 19th; therefore, I will not be at school on that day. I also celebrate Christmas on January 7th. It's a very busy time of year for everyone - that's for sure! Our Mrs. Nilo will be flying down to California to visit family so we certainly wish her safe travels. We hope that you have some fun and exciting events planned too! Hope Santa is good to you all (NO SLIPPERS!) and we wish all a very Happy New Year!

Very hard to believe that we're heading into the last four days of school before the holidays - and what a lot of excitement we have planned! Tomorrow is our Winter Concert! Please remember that your child needs a pair of slippers for the performance (ANY slippers, they don't have to be new or any particular kind of slipper!!) The classroom will be open to receive your child at 5:30p.m. and after our class's performance we will be returning to the classroom. PLEASE do not get up and leave the audience! Your child will be released to you at the END of the concert.
We're also looking forward to our Pasta Luncheon on Wednesday. Remember - our class is not hosting this time, you do NOT have to send food nor do you need to send money! Your child will still need a morning snack, as well as a drink for lunch time. I promised some photos of our house centre decorated for the season, and I also wanted to include pictures of the kids working on it! We also worked very hard preparing decorations for the stage but I won't spoil that surprise - you'll see it tomorrow! Yesterday, our own "Mrs. K." brought her bunny 'Rosie' in for a visit! Rosie is very well behaved, and although a little timid she did allow the kids to pet her. It was a good experience for them, as at first they were very loud and wanted to crowd Rosie. Rosie quickly hid herself behind the Smartboard cart! Mrs. K. explained to the kids that they needed to be quiet, gentle and patient. Soon Rosie was feeling more comfortable and friendly! Click on the pictures below to get a better look.
Our Tim Hortons having run its due course, it was time to think of something new for our dramatic play area. The kiddos LOVE to play house, but we wanted to add a different element to their play. Voila! A laundry room! Now they want to decorate the house centre for the holidays, so we've been busy for days making all kinds of decorations. You can see the beginnings in a couple of pictures below (click on the pictures to enlarge them and read the captions). I'll post the finished project in a few days - it's going to be beautiful!
